11. Document Clear-Out

Want a quick way to clear your Documents list--the menu of files that appears when you select Start, Documents? To wipe out the entire list, right-click the Taskbar and select Properties. Click the Start Menu Programs tab, click the Clear button, then click OK. Select Start, Documents, and that list is clean as a whistle.

To remove individual items from the Documents list, delete their shortcut(s) from the hidden folder, Windows\Recent.(Note: If your system has user profiles enabled, delete shortcuts from the C:\Windows\Profiles\[username]\Recent folder.) If you have IE 4.0 installed, you can delete an item from the Documents list by right-clicking it (right on the Start menu) and selecting Delete.
